tumbling hair

This post is also on my tumbling blog www.eatsleeptumble.blogspot.com. Enjoy!

As you may know by reading my previous blogs I am a competitive tumbler. These are some of the many hairdo's I have worn at competitions. Some better than others. I'll tell you why and tell you how to do some of them to!

This is from the Utah summer games two years ago and I did not want to let my mom french braid my hair so I just put it in pigtails THIS IS NOT ADVISED FOR COMPETITION! At any normal USA-G sanctioned competition this would not be allowed because they want you to have your hair pulled back tightly and if it is long it needs to be in a bun of some sort. But at summer games they don't care much about that kind of stuff so I was okay.

This was at the Utah Sate Championships last year and my team decided to dye our hair blue to match our leotards. (I am the one turned away talking to one of the competitors.) It was really fun. I decided to use the spray color so that I wouldn't get in trouble at school on Monday. Some of my team that where out of high school actually dyed their hair and kept it for quite a while. All I had to do was make the braids then spray them with the hair dye like I was spraying them with hairspray. I got the hair dye at Clair's but you could get it other places to. But I don't recommend this for anything bigger than state championships because judges can take deductions for it so I would be even cautious at state. At region 1 championships last year they took a 1 point deduction for unnatural hair color. And this is a BIG deduction especially when you are trying to qualify for nationals.

This was at a meet about two years ago. Front twist into bun. I do this one allot because It stays tight (if you use as much hairspray as I do for meets and that's allot!) and doesn't threaten to touch the ground. (A major deduction.) The only downside on this is I use bobby pins for my buns and bobby pins are not allowed anymore at meets because there was a bobby pin on the mat and a girl was tumbling and it went through right through her hand. OUCH! but hey, you have no rules about using bobby pins so it is still a perfect do for you!

I'm not sure you can see it in these two pictures. I have my hair loosely french braided. It didn't stay in very well and it kept bugging me during the competition. It was only loose because my mom doesn't know how to french braid other peoples hair. So I recommend having someone who can braid OTHER peoples hair do your hair. Or if you are like my mom, do your own. :)

Mind the second picture I don't know what I was doing. To me it looks like I am sneezing but I don't know that's just me. This is an ever popular one I see at meets.  I use this one often. You can do many variations of this hairdo as seen in the three pictures. The first two are what I like to call the diamond or zig zag hairdo. What you do is start by parting one row of hair. Take pieces of that row and secure them with a small rubber band. After you do the first row part the second row. Section this row so the pieces are in between the ones in front of them. (see pictures.) Before you secure with rubber band take half of each of the two sections in front of them. Continue doing this with as many rows as you want. In the third picture I did almost the same thing but I took one large section on the top of my head and split it into two sections horizontally and connected them. Then I sectioned the sides in to sections vertically. And pulled the entire thing back into a bun. Be creative with this one the possibility are endless.

p.s. I had to tell you about this. In the third picture my little cousin (blond girl in the pink.) had just asked me where my pants where. When I replied they where in my bag she insisted I go get them and put them on. She is so cute and makes me laugh every time I see her. I love you Cami!

As you may have noticed with these pictures It is hard to even see because it is so blurry. This is because I am moving so fast and as you can imagine, It would be hard for my hair to stay in. But mine is staying in just fine. Want to know my secret? Okay so first I always do something with my bangs, either I twist it

or I braid it, clip it, pin it, or pull it back with a small pony tale holder. Then I pull it back into a tight "midish" ponytail. Then I spray it wit a generous amount of hairspray. Then I put a scrunchy in it over the other ponytail holder. The scrunchy helps hold the hair tighter. And it doesn't slip out as easy. So that's my secret to a tight ponytail that stay's in during tumbling.

So these are some of my hairstyles I do for tumbling. I hope you guys like them and can use them for something even though I'm sure most of you aren't competitive tumblers. You can use these for whatever sport you do or you can just do them for fun. Thanks for reading! :)

I'm still here!!!

I'm still here and I haven't given up on this blog so sorry for the posting delay. I have had more computer problems. The monitor won't turn on and we need a new one. At the moment we have our old one from like the stone ages. I swear this thing is like 1,000,000,000 X bigger than the newer one. And it has really bad picture and all the words look blurry. But I will have to make it do for now. Anyway, My sister is still being stubborn and I am thinking I will borrow my neighbor who always wants me to do her hair when I babysit her. I have done a couple videos during the summer on my camera but they won't upload to the blog. Then a couple days before Girls Camp my camera broke. So now I have no camera at all. I am hopefully getting a flip camera for my birthday or Christmas but we'll see. So for now here is yet another video from cute girl hairstyles. Sorry It's not mine. I am trying!

3 Cornrows into Ponytail

Okay, so I have tried many times to let my sisters let me do their hair but they just won't let me. Yes it's true Danielle has turned on me to. I am still trying to convince them but in the mean time I didn't want to leave you guys hanging. So here is yet another video from cute girl hairstyles. I may have to resort to doing hairdo's on myself. Don't loose hope on me!

Waterfall French Braid

Okay, so now my computer has space and I can now upload pictures again, but I have a new problem. Mikall is being suborn and won't let me do her hair and whenever I do she will only let me do a ponytail. I don't know what that's about. So I will do some on Danielle but for now here is another hairstyle from CuteGirlHairstyles. I will try to do some of my own soon!

MY HARD DRIVES FULL!! :(

OK guys I am soooo sorry for the wait for new posts. I cant upload any new pictures because all of the space on our hard drive is full. I will upload as soon as I can! Don't lose hope on me! All I can do is upload videos from YouTube so I might just do that for a while. Hopefully it is fixed soon!!! Keep your fingers crossed!!!

hair twist

OK so this is my signature twist I use this all the time (I had a random person ask me how to do it at the mall once) I found this video on YouTube that shows how to do it!(yay! a video I haven't been able to upload mine so I will use hers.) It came from http://www.cutehairstyles.com/ and I looked at it thismorning and she has a few of the same hairdos as I do. I do this twist into a side bun like shown in the video. I also do it small in the front of my hair to substitute for my inability to do a small tight decent looking french braid on my own hair. Hope you enjoy!!!

Hairbows?

OK so I am thinking about selling hair bows on this site. I will also do fish (soooo cute!!!) and flowers and who knows what else. I want to see if anyone is interested before I order. All the profits would go to my nationals fund I started for next year. (I am hoping to make it to nationals next year and its REALY expensive so I am starting to save now.) I also want to know what colors people like the best so email me at icantumble@yahoo.com or comment and tell me if you have a preference to what colors I would sell. Thanks!!!

Flat Irons

I have had requests to do a post on flat Irons so here it goes. OK so Flat Irons, I think they are the most wonderful invention after the trampoline. I use mine almost every day, either on my hair or one of my sisters hair. My mom told me about how they used to use the cloths iron to straiten their hair I think that sounds ridiculously hard and it probably wouldn't turn out as well as if you use a flat Iron. I have a CHI which is a generaly nice flat iron. Flat Iron prices run from around 30 dollars for a cheaper iron to over 100 dollars for a really nice one. What iron you get depends on how well your hair holds curl. If your hair doesn't hold curl very well I recommend a more expensive Iron.(But price doesn't always mean better so make sure you know what you are buying) You can flip hair with a flat iron and you can also curl hair with a flat iron. I think its easier to curl with than a curling iron. Here are some ways you can use your flat Iron. For this post I am just going to use pictures I already have so that's why they are all different and of me instead of my sister.

straiten hair.

Smooth our hair and get rid of that crease from yesterdays ponytail or the funny curl you got from swimming. Its easy and fast and depending on your hair can stay strait for up to a couple days. (if you don't wash it. I only recommend this if you don't get greasy hair [Mostly little kids] if it gets greasy wash it.)

Flip hair.

You can flip hair out or in. either way looks cute on short or long hair. Last year I cut my hair short and flipping it out was one of my favorite things to do to my hair. (the first picture) I also flipped it in (the second picture[could have used more on the right side]) This is how you would get a look like Abagail Breslin in "Kit Kitrege an American Girl"(the third picture) both are done generally the same way; take a piece of hair and straiten it like normal then when you get to the end turn your flat iron either towards you or away from you to create a curl at the ends.

Curl hair

In this picture we all have our hair curled with the flat iron. (mine is pulled pack so its hard to tell its curled) we learned how to do this at a hair place where the lady taught us how to do it then we practiced on each other. All you do is take a piece of hair pinch it near the root with the flat iron. Turn flat iron 1/2 or 1 time away from or towards you. wrap hair piece with it. then pull down on the flat iron until the entire piece is curled. this look is cute on long or short hair. Ill do a nother post on this because it is a hairdo all by itself. and its hard to explain without pictures.

tini tiny braids

This is a secret I learned from my friends sister. All you do is braid a small piece of hair then spray it with a generous amount of hairspray. (if you want you can add fine glitter which adds a cool affect, it can be purchased at any craft store or Clair's usually has some. To do this braid and flat iron hair as told in instructions then pinch a small amount of glitter and rub it onto braid, to ensure it stayes hairspray it or add gel. ) Then you just run it over with the flat iron and it should stay. Sorry I don't have any pictures of this but It looks really cute!

Warning!!!

if you have extremely thin hair don't hold flat iron on hair to long or it can burn your hair. Don't avoid using flat irons they can still be used on your hair, just be care full.

Cinderella hair

1. Put hair in ponytail.

2. fold end of ponytail up around a ribbon. secure with small rubber band.

3. Roll hair up.

4. Tie the ribbon in a bow.

5. secure with bobby pins.

6. spray with hairspray. And your done!

My sister always wants to be a princess so this is one of her favorite hairdos. I like it because its so fast. Hair Brush

Sinched braid

1.braid a small section of hair.

2. pinch two strands with your thumb and pointer finger, while holding the other strand with your other hand.
3. Push up the two strands to your scalp.

4. gently pull strands down.

5. Secure with rubber

I like to do this into ponytails or side messy buns. I love how simple it is and how people can't figure out how you did it. So have fun with it! When I did this neither of my sisters where home so thats why its on an American Girl doll.
